Our cold Michigan winters can reduce even a Jeep’s performance. Fortunately, as your Jeep dealer, we can prepare your vehicle to withstand even the lowest temperatures. We want to tell you about some Jeep winter maintenance to help your Jeep beat the winter.

Battery Check

Your battery supplies the electrical charge that powers the starter so it can crank your engine and begin combustion. The average life of a car battery is three to five years, but regular low temperatures can reduce this. Extreme cold causes the battery’s electrolyte solution to partially solidify. At 0F, a healthy battery can only supply approximately 50% of its regular power.

Battery storage capacity declines naturally with age, making it more difficult to start the engine. Our technicians will connect your battery to our computerized battery tester. This machine subjects the battery to various stress tests to determine its remaining strength and storage capacity. If your battery is weak, we can install a new one in minutes.

Oil Change

Your engine depends on a constant flow of high-quality oil to keep it working effectively. Oil lubricates countless engine components, allowing them to move smoother and faster while protecting them against friction damage. Oil additives help prevent rust, break down potentially damaging engine deposits, and keep the engine clean.

Older oil is less effective due to the absorption of dirt and other minute engine debris. The combination of age and low temperatures can lead to unnecessary engine wear and tear. We’ll test the oil and replace it if needed. Fresh oil will ensure your engine works efficiently despite the cold.

Check Windshield Wipers

Windshield wipers can be easy to forget about but become very important when snow falls. Your wiper blades are made from high-quality rubber to allow them to clear your windshield quickly. Rubber degrades over time, becoming less flexible. The lack of flexibility can cause the blades to crack, and pieces will break off.

Damaged blades can’t effectively clear the windshield, and good visibility is essential in snowy conditions. We’ll replace damaged blades and test the wiper system to ensure it’s in good condition.
